Default Turbo GSR question: no vtec?

I recently turboed my 2000 gsr over the summer. However i have done no tuning so far it is just running on a basemap getting ready for uberdata. Its a stock b18c1 with a greddy 18g. after finishing the project, i noticed that there were little bits of oil dripping from the return line. Nothing serious just a little amount. I figured it was just loose so i attempted to tighten it. Another problem is that while running the car looses power where vtec should be hitting. i am guessing that this is because the car has not been properly tuned yet. but i found it odd that vtec is not even engaging anymore!!! the car runs fine when on. i know this topic has been discussed before, but i didnt quite find some case exactly like mine. let me know what you think. sorry for the giant pic
here are some pics of the finished product

Once i boosted my car i had the same problem, but it was because my VSS became unplugged somehow.....other than that, i'm not sure what's going on....it could be your basemap

The only proper way to check if VTEC is operating correctly is to bring the car in 4th gear up to redline. If the rev limiter acts like normal then everything is OK.

maybe this is a dumb answer but it may have been overlooked. make sure you have plenty of oil as vtec will not engage if you dont. i had a friend that spent hours trying to
figure out why his vtec wouldnt work and it was because he had the wrong dipstick in there which was to short. good luck getting it fixed

I had the same issue with my b16 turbo and tuning fixed my issues. Before tuning, my car used to idle rough and bog in vtec, seems that the base-map was way off according to my tuner.

yea i have dsm 450's in there. i think the tuning might be part the problem. as alex_s817 said regarding the oil level, i think the oil level is high. could this cause it? i totally forgot that i added to much in hopes that it would slowly burn off. does anyone know if over the line on the dipstick will cause no vtec?

No, your oil level will not stop your vtec from working unless its really low. You can be a quart low or over and vtec will still work. I've done both

does ne one know about an oil leak if the turbo is blown or not? I notice sometimes a little oil on the intake trim of the turbo. The turbo was used with 15k on it and a slight shaft play.

What size oil feed line do you have to the turbo? Hows your oil return look? And are you using an oil feed restrictor?

The oil feed line kit i bought was off of fast-turbo.com. it was for the greddy 18g. I do not know what the size is. my oil return looks ok it makes a big turn, and sometimes oil drips from the oil return line right where it goes into the pan. there has to be a slight leak somewhere. I dont think its an oil restrictor. For ecu... i am using a chipped p28.
