what motor is a ps9 ecu for?
alright so im doing an SOHC zc swap, doing the mpfi swap at the same time. i have a spare 88 pm6 in my basement i can use.
someone i have bought stuff from before told me he has a ps9 ecu he will sell me for 100$
he seas it is the ecu that goes with the zc motor, and that it is vtec ready but doesnt need to be run with vtec. he knows how unsure i am about this stuff and could easilly trick me into buying something i dont need. my mind is asking if he is telling the truth how can an ecu be vtec ready but not throw a code when not recognizing vtec?
i know the sohc zc does not have vtec, but im thinking down the road of doing a mini-me swap, and if the ecu is vtec ready i wont have to get a vtec controll, so kidna thinking of the future. if this ecu can run with or without vtec it sounds great. expecially if the mapping is for the sohc zc.
i just want to know if im being told the truth
is a ps9 from a jdm crx si and pared with athe sohc zc?
is it vtec ready but can run without vtec?
is it any better than a pm6?
i am aware that even if it is vtec ready i still have to run an extra wire for the vtec.

alright, well i took some time to look into it, and seams as if the ps9 comes from an 88-91 automatic sedan... so seams as if he either has his info mixed up or is messing with me... but ill give him the benefit of the doubt. ill just run my 88 pm6, untill i run turbo then i will have to get a chippable pm6.
its the ecu everyone used to want to get because with turboedit when u chip it the auto transmission lock uo solinoid actuator can be used to ativate vtec. it is the original one wire vtec ecu

yes i know 88-89 can not be chipped, but i have no reason to chip it, i dont need to chip it to swap in an sohc zc, or to do the mpfi swap, just need to change a few wires. so no chipping going on, when i do do a turbo set up i will put in a 90-91 ecu, unless someone tells me that there is a better ecu to chip for an sohc zc running turbo and staying obdo
it really doesnt matter what pm6 u use if your not chipping the ecu because non of them will allow you to use vtec without chipping and tuning the fuel maps when vtec engages
edit: i need to read more clearly. LOL
But off topic - wouldn't a PW0/PR3 ECU Chipped, work perfectly for a D-Series VTEC if the fuel map was tuned properly?
I always thought so, but you seem to know a lil more about OBD0 chipping than I.

dont know who your refering to, but i know nothing about them... i just need a chippable pm6 to run turbo-edit, when i do my turbo, can turbo-edit be set up for vtec as well if i were to do a vtec head swap in the future?
