Default Swap gsr into a 95 civic hatch cx. Question about cx exhaust

So my question is can i keep my cx exhaust when swapping a obd1 gsr motor ? I didn't have a measuring tape with me but it seems that the gsr header + cat seems a little bit to long and won't bolt on to exhaust pipe b for the cx. let me show you guys some pictures but it might be kinda small so you guys probably would need to save it then enlarge the pictures. Any info will help. Thx

so heres a pic of the cx cat that is connected on the header

and heres the pic of the exhaust system after the headers.

and this is the gsr exhaust system( see how the cat is connected after the header.)

it won't fit. the gsr headers are actually shorter than the civics. only the b18bs have the long hearders. u'll have to cut your exhaust and reweld it to fit the gsr headers.

why are you running the stock exhaust with a gsr, why not go with an after market with a hi-flow cat? you would get way better performance

ive got a Ek hatch CX with a gsr...i got the complete skunk 2 catback with a testpipe and it fits perfect...if u wanna keep ur stock pipeing then i would guess u need a muffler shop to redo ur pipeing after the swap

Even if it fits, your car will run like crap. I ran my stock vx exhaust until I was able to get my exhaust put on. Piping was too small. Car wouldn't run right in vtec.

1. it most likely won't fit
2. if it does you'll be choking your engine
3. gsr headers come in 2 lengths, the 00-01 headers are several inches longer than other gsr headers.

You'd be better off going to the exhaust shop and having them re-work the whole thing. 2-2.25" piping, resonator and muffler of your choice. (resonator is key for a decent sounding exhaust). If you want a pre-fab then get the exhaust for the car and have it customized to fit...

I did the exact swap and kept the original piping. After the swap i went to the local muffler shop where they alligned the flange to the header itself.Since your in cali im assuming you need to run a cat. But please upgrade your piping I've been running like this for awhile and it really does suck. Im just awaiting some funds to put the entire exhaust system on.

a question that kind of goes with the OP's that i have is I was going to gat a b16a SiR-2 motor for a cx hatch. has anyone used the exhaust manifold that it comes with? what about the cat? and would any exhaust like the apexi WS2 still work?

I was in the same boat, got a 98 GSR swap in mine and bought the Spec II exhaust (for a Civic) and an OBX test pipe for a GSR and they match up perfectly.
