Default Cloudy Carbon Fiber Hood

Ok so I bought my prelude a year ago with a carbon fiber hood already on it. I've noticed over time that it is getting to the point where it looks cloudy and looks like complete *** in the center of the hood. I've waxed it a couple times and nothing no change. I went out today and bought a buffer and hoping that it will help once I give it a shot. Has anyone ever had a problem with anything like this.

Sounds like the clear coat is slowly being stripped off the hood.

Ya that is what I was thinking to. Do you think buffing it will help. I've never really buffed anything before but I was told the friction like heats upthe paint/clearcoat and like resurfaces it. Has anyone ever had a problem with this before.

Some other options are sanding it and get it re-clearcoated. Also 3M makes some kind of stuff that works pretty well on this. (I forgot what it was called though) You might have some better luck in the appearance forum. Also if you search that forum I think this has been covered there quite a few times.

sounds like its oxidized, buffing would make it look better, but it will come back in a couple weeks.

I have a Fiber Images carbon hood--and it almost looks like the cloudiness is inside the clearcoat--below the top--so if you just try to buff it out, you won't reach it!!
