ok here the thing my buddys got a 97 teg wit 100k on it and he wants to change the powersteering fluid. but he is debating if he should because we dont think its ever been changed. and if we change it hes worried about the pump going. its like thinking about for example a auto trans how you sholdnt change the fulid if its got high miles. ya know what i mean.

should he change the ps fluid or leave it ?? will it hurt the pump

It wont hurt the pump....its a very simple vain drive system, however Ive never really heard of anybody changing the PS fluid.

 

Yea if it works, why mess with it? Changing the fluid wouldn't do anything for him. (Tell him to just remove it )

 

I changed ps fluid with Acura PS fluid on my 97 gsr (90k) last weekend. The system holds about 4 12 oz bottles of fluid but I was only able to drain half of that. I didn't really feel any difference after the flush. I still have 2 bottles and will use turky baster method to swap those in over time.
