Just so you know it is OBDI and OBDII. I thought your 97 would be OBDI

You could convert the sensors on the OBDI motor over to OBD II. You can also run OBD I sensors and harness and then run a OBDIIa to OBDI conversion harness and OBD I ECU.

i was told that i gotta take the alternator off my obd2 ls and use it on the obd1 motor so my plugs would match up and then i would just need an obd1 ecu and conversion piece for the ecu and something about a sensor on the tranny on a obd2 that aint on the obd1 but i can run any b18 tranny right?

The alternator, injectors, distributor, and probably some other **** is all different and will have to be converted over to use your OBD II harness....including the crank position sensor on the oil pump. You can use your stock ecu with no modifications if you go this route.

The only difference in the actual motor/assembly is the oil pump....it has the extra place for the crank position sensor.
