what gas mileage can I expect from a '91 Si?
I have a round trip commute of 100 miles a day. I'm considering replacing the car I use now with a very clean '91 Si but obviously gas mileage is real important. The difference from 25 to 35 mpg is over $500 a year and that with gas at $2.25. I know there are cars capable of over 40, but I also want to enjoy the drive while still having a dependable car. But I know that I will effectively kill whatever car I drive so I don't want to buy a new car just to lose all that money.
Anyway, MSN Autos says the car will be in the 23-28 mpg range but that seems lower than I would expect. I was hoping someone would have a more or less stock Prelude from that generation that could help me out.
Thanks for the help.

That's what you will typically get. You would have to be romping it to get 23 though. 25-30mpg is what most guys get. Some say they get 33-35mgp but I really think it's BS.

The car is now sitting it my driveway. It was just too nice, it was cheap, and ready to drive. I couldn't say no.
It's a '91 Si, 5 speed, and 4 wheel steering. Only 129,000 miles and near perfect interior. Original factory CD. White with the white directional wheels.
Now I'll just have to try REALLY REALLY HARD not too floor it too often!

AHH, I want those white wheels so bad. I have a white 3G myself. Post some pics and join preludepower.com! It's basically 3G mania over there as opposed to this being basically 4G mania.
Is it the B21A1 or just the B21A? Not a huge difference, just wondering.

I thought there was another tag on a fender or something that designated the engine class but I couldn't find it.
I'll check out that website. Thanks for the tip.

Well the first tank checked in at 28.9. And that was with some non-mileage friendly throttle bursts while I was "learning" the car.
Not quite what a Civic should do, but this is a LOT more fun!
