Tonight i was driving around a bend, hit loose gravel, my *** end kicked out and i slid into a massive mailbox.(6x6 sunk 2 feet into the ground surrounded by two bags of concrete.... the owner of the house informed me that his mail box has been slammed into quite a few times before so he "beefed" it up for the next guy, who is unfortunately me)
Anyway, i manage to go about 1.5 miles to my friends house and get my car into his garage. My passenger side took the impact. My alignment is way out, and my steering rack seems to have taken the beating. turning the wheel side to side, when i hit center with my passenger wheel, my driver side is sticking out about 2". i know i need new outter tie rods. My steering rack gets "stuck" mid way through going rack to rack, as in i cant move it, then i wiggle it back and forth and its free, until i hit the "stuck" spot again. is it possible to sheer the gears off inside the steering rack? my assumption is that i will need to swap in a new steering rack. any thoughts are appreciated.

what more is there to comment on? your steering rack is effed, and probably more.
you want us to answer if the teeth inside the steering rack can break? problably your pinion. but what does it matter, it needs replacing and the whole suspension to fix.
go look under your car and then tell us what you find. better yet, go to a professional.

yes, that was basically my question, if anyone has experienced broken teeth inside the rack. and im having it towed to a shop first thing in the morning. the unibody looks to be fine, searched high and low and found no stress marks in the paint.
convienently, i have a second complete 93 DA parts car, Es bushing kit, illuminas, and a z10 traction bar waiting to go on my car so replacing parts wont be a problem.
thanks tyson
