Default egr cleaning clearification

i got code 41 and 12 which is my egr and o2 sensor on my h22. i tried to clean my egr before buying a new one but it still gives me the code. let me know if i did this right.

i bought some carb cleaner and cleaned the egr itself. then i used some seafoam and filled up the two ports( circle and square holes). i put everything back on and started the engine. after that, i ran all the remaining seafoam through the vacuum line. i turned of the engine for five mins. then i restarted and gave it some rev until it clears out from the exhaust. is this how you're suppose to do it? if it was right then i guess i'll buy a new one.

the service manual says the way to clean it is to drill out the access ports and physically remove the carbon build up in the egr ports.

My EGR cleaned out fine with just carb cleaner. I just hope it didn't mess with any seals.

see #42/20? follow the lines to the intake manifold. you'll see the 4 circle caps on the EGR port. pull those caps off and clean out all the carbon build up in there.

yes, it can be done on the car. I remember somebody doing a write-up but can't find it. search for under "hesitation" I think or "car not starting". one of those. lol, maybe it was something different. it's been a while.

the caps you should be able to replace. you can get them from the dealership.
