Ok. I might trade someone my ITR cams and a VAFC for their Skunk2 Stage 1 Cams. I know the Skunk2 cams will yield bigger gains, but I heard it'll jack up my stock valve train if i don't upgrade it.

Do i need to get other things such as Valvesprings, retainers, etc.? Even if i don't rev past 8200rpm?


What do you guys think I should do. Keep the ITR cams or trade them for Skunk2's?

 

You can run your stock valvetrain with Stage 1s. Just keep it below 8200.

Are the Skunk2 cams new or used?

 

they have 4000 miles on em.

I just read some info about the Stage 1's and it says they are compatible with stock valvetrain.

So what should i do? Trade em?

 

dont trade them for just the Stage 1 cams. Save up and upgrade to the Stage 2.
THe stage 1 is good but not that good for the price. might as well step it up a notch and Stage 2 it.

then trade it and waste your time doing that labor for minimal whp gain in that range,performance wise..might as well stay with the OEM stuff. if youre gonna get new cams you might as well upgrade.

i have them now. i had itr's before. there is a very noticable differnce between the 2. if u dont rev over 8200, then u can keep ur stock vavletrain.

itr cams + a vafc for the skunks tho...hmm. i'd want to keep the vafc if i were you

 

ditto, give him some cash instead, the VAFC will com in handy when tuning the skunk2 cams

 

noticeable improvement with a skunk stage 1 over Type R cams. Excellent strong midrange and pulls up hard too. I have graphs.

 

I have a couple VAFC's with me. I'm not giving him mine. Just an extra that I have. I guess I'm sold then. Skunk2 Stage 1 cams...

my friend was runnin mid 13's on his 4 door gsr...and he was sellin to me but i was broke.....he just upgraded to the stage 2 with the proper valvetrain...i say go for it u can sell it back....
