Convertilbe top, hardtop questions. Need some help!!!
Well, my little brother just bought himself a 2001 honda s2000 black on black. The car is beautiful, it only has 36,000 miles he bought from my job. A few questions please.
Well i was driving the thing I noticed alot of wind noise coming in from the front of the convertible top where it meets the windshield. Now dont get me wrong you cant feel any wind coming in through there. All it is, is that you can hear alot of wind noise. I wanted to know if anyone here knows if this is a normal thing or is the weatherstrip there having some problems.
Also how much would a convetible top cost? How hard is it to put on? Thanks for all your help in advance.

I have the same thing with my 2000. I can hold down the top handle, just above the rearview mirror and it goes away. I took it to the dealer and was told that the hooks aren't adjustable, that has to be done were the top is mounted to the car.

The catchers wear right at the spot where the hook attaches to, and a little gap there equals a bigger gap at the softtop/windshield junction. Trust me on this one.
The cost is anywhere from 2700 + Shipping to 3500 + shipping.
Initial installation takes 2-4 hours and is not really that hard. If you but the HT new from a dealer (or online source) it should come with everything needed for installation. MY02 or later cars only, MY00-01 cars will need some additional parts for the electical part of the defroster as they did not have a defroster from the factory becasue or the plastic rear window.
Daily installation takes two people and two minutes. My 15 year old helps me swap mine.

This is the last time I'm going to say it: He doesn't need a new top.

You probably dont need latches...just the strikers. There is a TSB out on this problem. The fix is to replace your existing soft top strikers for hard top strikers. They cost me about $57 with shipping and you can get them at http://www.thehondapartsstore.com. I had the same problem...my top was so bad that at like 65MPH-up, I had to yell to have a conversation with the passenger. The hard top strikers cured the problem. Remember to push your top forward with the handle in the center to assist the latches in closing the top. This will prevent future wearing out of the strikers.
Oh yeah, theyre part number 86270-S2A-902
