Default gt35r and T3/T66 HO vs. GT40r

I've noticed that the 40r's don't yield so much more power given the same displacement. In addition, I've personally seen more guys run quicker/faster in gt35r HO or the T3/T66 HO. I'm just wondering if I'm the only one seeing this....

And then what most guys do as an upgrade is skip the 40r and go the 42r....hehe!!!!

isn't this so TRUE??? lol!!!

guess I'm asking just to see since I'm upgrading and kind of thinking of the 42r

lag sucks... on the 42r any dyno runs on a 2.0L gt42r please share!!!

the only reason I could see better times with a 35r is because the cars are making traction. there's no doubt a 42r will make more power but its all in putting it to the ground.

Wouldn't the 35r be spooling faster also?

40r = 750WHP

42r = 850+ WHP

Joe Simpson had gone 10.0s on the GT35R in 2005 and went 9.79 with the GT40R

I'm also leaning towards the 4094R to try it out. I am currently making 630whp on the t4 35R and trapped 148mph in it. Would there be any downside to running a divided turbo housing with a non-divided manifold? Possibly trying to upgrade turbo without having to do the whole manifold. Thanks, Paul

Yeah I've seen close 600whp on gt35s (570ish) @ 27-28psi on a 1.8L and then our drag car made peaked at 635whp on a 1.8L... so you are right on the dot, but the 35's still seem to turn in better 1/4mile results... or it could've just been my experience!!!

I'm thinking the 42r route...

dang really.... my T4/SFWD 35R turbo spools way faster then our Drag car with the same 4088r turbo.... 35r spools at 4.5-5K rpms... the 40r spooled at near 6K rpms!!! same 1.8L GSR motor same JE pistons

yeah his are.. since we've attained those similar numbers on dynojets

35r 530ish@24psi (28psi ~ 570-600whp) 1.8L GSR
40r 635ish@28psi 1.8L GSR
42r Never tried yet!!!!

aren't there many t3/t66 HO and gt35r HO guys doing the same.... I've ran 5-6 consecutive 10.0-10.2 runs @ 144-146mph @ 24psi... considering if i tuned it at 28psi on another visit to the dyno...more then likely i would've turned high 9s too...well maybe...i hate "would'ves"...LOL!!!

tony is that a question??? if it is then yes his numbers are I believe from a 224x dynojet... I've gotten close to his numbers with dynojets too... why do you ask??? </TD></TR></TABLE>
tony wasnt asking a question, but rather a statement in response to adspeed's post. He is saying Dave's #'s are dynojets where adspeed's is probably a dynapak.

Did you have a Divided Collector Turbo Manifold to compliment the GT4088R? I have a GT4088R 1.06 A/R on a stock sleeved motor 81.5mm and full boost is 5800rpm

this doesn't help much because i can't find the thread, but there was a guy with a hatch last year with a b-series t3/t67H.O. that was making around 700whp and was running high 9s @ 149-151. But i know alot of people don't like to classify t3 housings with t4 wheels as just a "t3"

Peter Hiu I do believe from GA, ran at NOPI in Rockingham and was DQ'ed for no cage or parachute one of those, that car was fast.

With anything in Motorsports there are A MILLION ways to get from point A to Point B in the same EXACT TIME, make the same power and all. Talk to Headporters and they will always say the other guy is doing it wrong BUT they all seem to work WELL. Also any header/turbo manifold guy will say the other guy is doing it wrong or not the most optimal BUT still everyone gets from point A to Point B in similar times, same goes with turbos and turbo manufacturers. Case in point everyone believes you need an Equal Length or Top Mount manifold dual wastegates , you have Tony1 who has one running a 9.46 and then you have Mat Keller with an off the shelf InlinePro Logstyle turbo manifold ran a 9.47

I myself try to run the most efficient and simplest set up I feel. I chose my set up and have gone through many different set ups, I liek what I have now. A T3 turbine housing will have more backpressure than a T4 and less HP, a T4 won't spool as well. I like a T4 housing BUT a T3 WILL WORK NO DOUBT.
