Just got my DC5 time for parts...$4k to spend help me choose..
I would like to start off by saying before I typed this I wondered how many dicks would just look at this and try to flame me....but who cares..flame on!
I just got my 05 BOM DC5 last thursday and I have Almost $4k for parts....im losing sleep cause the money is burning a hole in my pocket lol and i don't wanna spend the money and regret what I got. I know i want and intake and lowered so the things i have thus far decided on are a CRSX injen CAI, and TEIN SS coil over which = about 1350....so what else do i buy..? here is the things i have been considering.
Seibon Carbon hood($600?)
6000k HIDS($350)
A Spec lip(can't find a good place to buy this...)
Race header(not sure on what brand i want)((5-600)
exhasut( every ones seems to liek the evo2 so i might go witht that)(5-600)
K-pro(which is wow $200 for 04 ECU,$180 for 02, $1150 for chipped and conv. harness)
those are the main things im looking at for right now. since winter is upon us I don't plan on getting wheels until spring which i proly well try to get some work, advan, or what i really want gramlight 57 pros. Im not an idiot lol i just wanted some opinons outta other "respectable" honda owners. I do know that it is my car and im going to do what I want and also there is the question do i wanna be looks or go?....either way I would appriciate the opinions guys

Intake choice good. R/H get toda, K-pro is a thumbs up. Exhaust evo i cool. Suspension choice is excellent. Save the rest up to get tuned.
After that see how much is left over and start a new list

ditch the HID's and CF hood. These are not necessary. The stock hood doesn't weigh much as compared to like a prelude hood or even a Ej8 civic.
I would def consider workin on some suspension. Tein SSP is top of the line as far as suspension is concerned. That's about $1,200. So yes, you're off in the right track
If you have a Type S then you're in luck because the 05-06 wheels look sick! props to you if you have the Type S. Buying wheels isn't really necessary either unless you want a more drastic change.
I/RH/E can run you into about $1,000-$1,500 range. Depends on what companies you like. A solid/clean look for any RSX is the Apexi Ws2 exhaust. FTW IMO
Comptech makes a great race header but can be pricey. Jackson Racing makes one as well. Also, look into DC sports race headers. Stainless Steal FTW
-Intakes are everywhere. ARC has a kick *** setup but they are very $$$$. Or go with Injen that you were talking about, they seem to have the most increase in power all around over any other company. Stay away from SRI,or what I like to call,"Hot Ram Intakes"
Go with the K-pro for sure. It's pricey but if you want more goodies down the road and need to re-tune you're capable to do so. $1,150 plus a tune which would run about $250 pending on whom and where. If you can tune then you're saving some money.
So your grand total is $3,850, give or take minus a tune and installation work if you need it. But that would give you a solid foundation and still room for many mods. Piece together a lip kit. There's more agressive kits out there. I wanted A-Spec too, but I've been looking around and I'm just going to piece it all out. Good luck man, Just thought I'd share my $.02 with you

JayDiem_k20_Dc5 thanks alot for the opinion, and to everyone else as well...the main reason i was going ot get a hood was for "flavor" on a orange car. but last night i hade a couple asshats in a VW 1.8 talk **** on JAP CRAP...and well that just made me wanna go out and drop all my money in performance **** and be like i'll run your GERMAN ENGINEERING
.
VW's = cool
Asshats who drive vw that think they are sick wit it b/c they have a small turbo stock and put out some torque

haha i 100% agree with that german engineering ****. my friend has an s4 and talks about it constantly (too bad my rsx keeps up with it).
as for mods, tein coilovers are a great set up to go with. tein is a great company and have great stuff. i have my type s dropped on tein s techs and i love it.
for intake, cold air is def the way to go. i have an aem v2 cai (even tho its designed like a short ram) and i feel a little bit of power but what i notice most is the sound i get from it. once vtec kicks in, it screams. i might switch over to a cai though but im not entirely sure... i might get a hood with a scoop over the intake and headers.
for exhaust i have an hks hi power and i ******* love it. not too loud, but not quiet either. and its not teh ricey loud. its a deep sound and to be completely honets i think i popped a boner the first time i heard it on my car. the only thing i dont like is that the tip comes out of the back of the car at an angle so it doesnt fit in the little cut out for the exhaust. it melted my bumper a little bit (not noticable unless you look for it) but im int he process of taking the tip to my friend's shop so i can have it bent straight.
i have strup 4-1 shorty headers and... dont get them. im trying to get rid of them for a new set. i hear buddy club and dc headers are better.
kpro is also great i hear ( i dont have it but i want it) you have the ability to tune your setup and get the most power out of what you have. get the kpro LAST after the intake, exhaust, and headers that way you really only need to tune it once for all of them.
as for rims, the 05 type s rims are nice to begin with, you dont really need nething else. but have you considered a DIY black rims? i did my rims black on my vivid blue pearl and i think it looks great ( i also have a set of racing harts). but stick with the type s rims and just paint them if u want a different look. if ur curious on painting them, im sure there are DIY things for them or you can pm and ill help you out.
thats just my 2 cents and i hope you end up loving whichever setup you choose. and yes, ppl with german cars are cocky. and we smoke them anyway. no big deal lol. but good luck with your car.

I find it hard that your friends S4 cant pull away from you, unless he has an auto, but still its running a mid 14 stock.
The greatest advantage to a SRI is the throttle response. You lose that when you go cold air. If you live in a dry area id be all over a CAI. I live in Central NY where it rains and snows and its 75 degrees all in the same day. I have a V2, it fits my needs fine.
You have a strup shorty header which is a copy of the DC shorty. Strup makes another copy of the DCRH. I dont see DC being any better than the strup in the header department. Both are dynoing out the same whp.
Not all german owners are cocky. Some jap and american owners are too. It depends on the person. german engineering is topnotch with some stuff as is Jap. there is no reason to think you can smoke german cars when you and I know there are more than a few that will hand your *** to you if you guys raced.
Think about it this way: Honda owners always have a chip on their shoulder because of people making fun of the cars and vtec blah blah blah. So do german owners, they deal with people talking about how metrosexuals drive them, the cars are uber unreliable, and overpriced. The hatred for is brewed the same way.

expletive the cosmetics other than a drop, put all that into power. after kpro and coilover you should have about 2Gs left. get an exhaust, and before you decide to put on cai and header, decide on if you are going to go boost
LOL, No boosy for a good while...im just going to go bolt on N/A style for about 2yrs lol. Anyways guys did buy a few things
Tein SS coil overs $1,125
Ingalls Engine Damper $150
CRSX Injen CAI $261

Say what? The Flex is a better setup because of the adjustable shocklength, but I'm not sure I'd get either. The OP hasn't told us why he's upgrading except for the fact that he has $$ burning a hole in his pocket.

Well, I knew that he didn't say anything about why he was upgrading, he only wanted opinions with what to do with the money.

I wouldnt suggest the torque dampners unless you are going to drag a lot. I ran a 14.5 with stock tires and I have intake and exhaust (first trip to the track). The torque dampers vibrate too much for my taste, but thats just my opinion (some may not agree). As far as mods go, I would say just get and exhaust and reflash. I think there are too many bugs that have not been fixed with kpro for the 05+.
Good luck wit the mods - I was on the same boat as you about 6 months ago. I mods I bought are in my sig
