I've done the mini-me back a few years ago. i am thinking about doing it again to a old D15b7 block i have laying around. I am not sure or can't rember if you set the cam timing to the vtec head. Or does the head need to be timed just like the d15.
also basicly the d15b jdm vtec motor uses the p28 head... so i take it needs to be setup as a d16z6 or whatever the d16 vtec motors are.

theres a complete and detailed write up on this in faq thread at the top. and i think your talking about ignition timing right? the timing where you turn the dizzy to adjust it?

i guess the ign timing, but I would call setting the motor timing, seting the bottomend at TDC, and the Topend at TDC. Setting the topend being the cam, needs to be set my timing marks that are behind the cam gear. The d15 has a differnt alignment, than the d16 vtec motor. So making the dx vtec i am beliving you set the topend to the d16z6 setting.
The info is on here, and d-series.org, and several sites.

no matter what you do, without an adjustable cam gear, or a 96-00 cam gear, you will be 4.5 degrees (half tooth) off.
