OT: drove the 02 Si last night
yeah I know, type r forum, blah blah blah. but my friends and people i respect post here, so there.
Anyway, got a hair up my *** to go look at the new Si at the honda dealership last night. First impressions:
high roofline
shifter
seats (200lb 6'4" dude) very good
steering wheel......afraid to ask how much, but i want one
tires: same old stock honda crap
sticker: 19k even
So i informed the dealer i had no intension of buying the car as soon as i set foot on the lot. Oddly enough, he didnt care, was cool with it, and went inside to get the keys.
Opened the door, and was pleasently surprised with the fit and finish of the car. better than most hondas ive seen lately, and i dont think the older ones are that bad.
Seating in the car was more than comfortable, and shifter was very good, in fact i liked it a lot. Slightly notchy until you got used to it, but overall a great position, and good feel.If i could change anything, i think i would add about two inches to the length of the shifter; of course im fairly tall, and the way the shifter was oriented, i think this would make it almost perfect. I was also surprised at how much room there was, it felt like a car that was much larger. seating position was slightly high for my taste, but im sure that adds to the "roominess" feeling.
on to the drive: it felt well connected, and was surprisingly good! i guess you could say the car had some torque, but overall the car felt like it could loose a few pounds. I would be very interested to drive one again, this time gutted (fl/nc style).
brakes, steering feedback, and road manners all get a thumbs up from me....all things considering it was good. Only negatives i can think of would be the feeling of driving a Chevy Lumina i get (seating height and vision wise).
One day i hope to get to drive a gutted/caged/race pad equipped one on track, i imagine it would be a pleasent surprise
hope that helps anyone in search of a peppy Chevy Lumina

I haven't driven one, but my complaint when I was sitting in one, (I'm 6'0", 205) I couldn't see the top of the guages from how I was comfortable in the seat... It really struck me as odd...
fear not jason.....the new Si would not own j00 at dragwarz.
but i know an older one in the area that might give you a run for your money

i drove the 2k2 si too....and i think the car just SUCKED!!!!!!!!! the seat was too wide for me im 5'8 165lbs and it was odd because it was so hard, it felt like there was hard foam in there. The car was under powered, very underpowered, the red line is at 6500 rpm? thats just way too low for a SI; just my opinion. the car looked like a mini-minivan so its ugly. i drove it for only half an hour.
I`ve driven one with a few suspension mods..pretty nifty!
Also, the HASport guys already dropped an rsx type s motor in one. Brian said it only took 3 hours..cake!

even with the popular opinion around here on the new neon being another pos. its one pos i would roll. and roll R;s with too.(stop lights anyways)
-Dave, who doesn't hate any car based on make, just because it's ugly, big, bloated or boring.. well or the owners are mostly elitists..
