its not easy to use the z6 harness on an ef . you will need parts off that harness, but the accepted method of converting from dpfi-mpfi obd1 is to convert the stock harness to mpfi, and then buy an obd0-obd1 harness.

dpfi-mpfi swap and an obd0-obd1 conversion harness, its not too bad.

trust me, you want to get the 5 spd tranny, it makes life a whole lot nicer. this is coming from a guy who had a z6 4spd 91 hatch for like 25k miles, and now has the same motor in a 90 hatch with a 5 spd for 8k miles

WOW! I never thought someone would be doing the same thing I just did. I have a ED6(STD) with a JDM(z6). What you really need to make this complete is

1. http://rywire.com/store/8891-c...d5abd
2. a 89-91 Si tranny(cable) well that's what I did, no need to convert to hydralic
3. p28
4. shift linkage won't matter if you use a cable Si tranny
5. all of the stock motor mounts from your d15b2 especially your driver side mount (make sure you take off the complete driver side mount)
6. And pray theres no rust!

Yes, you have to do this if your expecting to put a z6 engine into the ed chasis. The complete bracket next to the waterpump and tension must be removed from the stock engine and put on the z6 block. That's the only way.

I don't think you can use the 4sp tranny! The z6 is 5 speed! Well with the rywire price that's their price but if you want to spend time adding alot of sensors to your stock STD engine harness go right ahead .

what?

engines themselves dont have speeds. you can use the 4 spd tranny, but as other people said i say get at least a 5spd tranny. you dont have to add any sensors, just the stuff for mpfi and buy yourself a vtec subharness. then do like they already said with the obd0-1 conversion and your pretty much set.

I have an STD with a d16z6 in it.

I did the DPFI to MPFI conversion, and then bought an OBD0 to OBD1 conversion harness of eBay for like $40.

Worked perfectly, cranked right up w/ no CELs. Everything works great

Since I used an OBD0 to OBD1 harness, I didn't have to mess with anything other than running a few wires and plugging in my p28.

I've always wondered what it would feel like with the 4-speed. I have one in my garage that I've never used before. I'm running an Si tranny.

Anyways, the swap is pretty simple and has been done a million times before, so there are plenty of people who can help you.

Good luck

Nope, I have it sitting in my garage still. I might keep it around as a spare in case I mess up my Si tranny.

2 months and no CELs. I have everything wired up including the Honda scan tool connector

Note: Cheap harnesses will be a headache, it is a hit or miss with them.

Im actually looking into doing this swap. My engine is slowly dying and i found a D16Z6 with low miles for cheap. Everythings included, harness and ECU too. So can u use the tranny thats on the D16 or no??? If not, i know the si trannys better, but could i use my DX 5spd tranny thahts in my 91 sedan right now? Just looking for a cheap as posible fix, and a little more powers always nice haha.
