My friend has one w/ itr pistons all new bearings and seals, vtec pumps b16 head with CTR intake cam and intake mani. header and exhaust in a EF hatch. Best time was 13.5 with a CM stage 3

many diff factors you know. what car its in, diff. setups on the motor. etc.

Our LS/V in a CRX with CTR pistons did a 12.9 @106mph.

If you do the V-TEC conversion on the LS motor, can you still run boost on it because I have heard that it can make the engine very touchy when it comes to boosting it. Oh and on another sidenote... can you swap in any Honda DOHC head to a LS motor to make the conversion? Sorry, I'm a newbie so I ask stupid things.

All I know is that you have 4 choices for the head.

1. b16b (ctr)
2. b16a (sir)
3. b18c1 (gsr)
4. b18c5 (itr)

You can use any of these heads. Of corse the ITR and the CTR heads will be expensive and hard to find, but they are an option. As far as boost, I don't knowmuch about the hybris b series, but I know that all the vtec heads are tuned for high revving power, and all the non-vtec blocks are tuned for low end torque, and have a lower rev limit. This already means that you will be stressing your lower end. Boosting on a ls/vtec with a stock lower end is a nono, even though i think that you will have low compression. But like I said, I don't know much about the hybrid b-series motors.

So it might actually be better to go with a B16A engine as apposed to the Teg LS because of the way it's built and the stock rev limit? Makes sense... thanks.

but tunning the vtec and the turbo is pretty hard and if you go with just an ls block it can handle a load of boost with just a stock bottom end
ls with turbo is a good combo and it is way cheaper

Yeah but an LS engine has a lower redline so wouldn't it make more sense to buy an engine with a higher one... like a B16A?

ive had the luck of driving a fully built LSVTEC turbo hatch (EK) and all i have to say is BOOST OWNZ JOO~ especially after driving that car, the acceleration factor is like none other. I've been in fast N/A cars but it just doesnt compare.
Boost

mywhitecivic- the only thing the redline is there for is so you don't hurt the motor and there is not sense in reving that high when you don't make power up there. rev limiter is were it makes no sense to rev higher B16b revs higher then a H22 type s but the H22 type s makes way more power SHOC vtec's rev just alil bit high then an LS motor but the ls motor makes way more power

But turbos for a B16 or B18 series engine like the T3/T4 take a while to spool up so when you hit full boost at 4k you only have till mid 6k to boost. I can't see that being very helpful??? Help!!!

the Lsvtec EG in my sig made more power up higher than a 200whp GSR

build it right and it will rev like no tomorrow

dont forget about the gearing on a LS...and a b16 can rev easily to about 8200 rpm
