Default Quite the noob to wheels and tires - a couple questions (searched and checked the FAQ)

I recently bought a set of SSR type C's in 15x6.5 4x100 +43 offset.

Anyhow, I drive a 1998 GSR with a bit of a drop, I'm on tokico blues and ground control coilovers. I had planned on buying a set of Kumho ecsta SPT or MX in 205/55/15, that was until I found this thread:

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1786999

I'm worried about rubbing in the front, so I'm wondering, what would you guys suggest? As you guys can see, the last post in the thread, made by swifty4u, stated that azenis seem to run a bit big (i.e. a 195 fits like a 205, and a 205 is similar to a 215 in different brand tire) Is there any truth to this?

195/50/15
195/55/15 - This is one of the two choices I'm worried about rubbing
205/50/15 - This is the other, which is the ideal setup, although I'm worried about rubbing on this setup as well.

Also, if you guys think that these setups won't have any troubles with rubbing, do you think I'd be able to get away with 205/55/15?

Thanks for any and all helpful responses.

195/55 for a more cushy ride or 205/50..they are both virtually the same height/width. 205/55 will be too chunky and will screw up yer speedo and may also cause rubbing.

Thanks for the response.

I think I bought your friends SSR's, or you bumped the thread for him a lot.

Anyhow, thanks again for the response, so 205/50 and 195/55 are virtually the same?

oh, yeah that's what I meant.

So you don't think I'll have any rubbing problems with 205/50?

u mentioned that you were lowered only like 2 inches, correct ? or just a lil bit, right?

+43 offset is a pretty good offset for hondas and with a modest width of 6.5 u will be fine.

i have had my DA down to 15x6.5 +19 offset w/ 205/50 and had no rub.

Good to hear - I'm dropped quite a bit actually.

I'll have to pull the steelies off tomorrow and look and see how low I actually am.

I will say that I had to raise the front up about an inch, and take off the front lip (JDM front) to barely make it onto the emissions dyno.

I thought GSR's were 195/50/15 stock.

Hm, maybe I misread.

Thanks again for all your help.

I see. I must have misread.

Anyhow, maybe I can find somebody local that I can try on their stock wheels or wheels that are 195/55/15 so I can see what kind of fender gap there is left.

every manufactures spec's on tires that are built are different......the yoko's have a tendecy to be wider than normal just like the falken 215 and 615 and the hankook rs2 are the same way.......the 205/50r15 are little shorter than a 195/55r15 but a tad wider than stock......hope that helps

Stick with either 195/55-15 or 205/50-15 and you'll be fine. (205/55 is too big and 195/50 is too small.)

FWIW, the 205/50-15 is 1.6 percent smaller in diameter than the stock 195/55-15 size.
