Switching up transmissions.. Help me in my case?
With my setup i went 12.6 @ 108.. My traps are usually around 110-111mph, its 7psi of boost street tuned on a stock gsr, im running a LS trans. Runs were on 22x8x13" slicks. In a 88 Crx si.. car is about 2200lbs w/driver.
The car hooked up REALLY well.. Like it didnt even spin though first launching at 7500, just spun for a sec and took off.
Would it be worth the few hundred bucks to switch up from my LS trans, (91 Integra) to say a JDM B16 trans, a S1 or J1.. I cant afford something with LSD, id rather spend the cash on rods/pistons. Since my 60's were already half decent (1.80's).
Would the shorter gears of the B16 trans, help out my traps, like maybe get me up to 115mph + and some low 12's? I figured small slicks would help out with the LS trans.. But i dont need 24's, since im not making a whole lot of power and dont plan to.
So.. Worth it to go with the shorter geared trans on my setup? I bet it would help out with the highway pulls no doubt!

if you have a ys1 ls, you'll need to change your clutch disk if upgrading to a jdm s1/j1 transmission! changing to a tighter transmission will lower your et's, as long as you can rev the engine to make up for the loss of distance(mph) per gear that your car will travel. in other words, more rves with the tighter transmission, will keep you from having to shift into fith so you can finish the 1/4 mile! for the highway(and the track), a cable gsr ys1 with a hydro ls 5th gear would be ideal.

Thanks man.. Im planning on getting a sprung 6puck since im hoping to make a few more poines next spring (hoping to trap around 120). I have all CTR valvetrain so 8500 shouldnt be a problem, engine is healthy
Ill see if i can find a YS1
