Well i have a question about my transmission because it is making a weird noise an its kinda scary. Well here it goes, i was getting on my car one nite an i misshifted from 3rd to 2nd when i meant to go into 4th so my transmission is making some whining noise like a supercharger while driving but when i push in the clutch it will go away, an also my transmission at idle is making a knocking noise which is sort of loud, but when i push in the clutch the sound goes away. What could that be?

 

Throwout bearing, input shaft bearing. If you replace the input shaft bearing, replace the other mainshaft and countershaft bearings while you're in there.
