Default If I want MP3's...

Do you suggest I get a Rio empeg with like 20 gig hard drive which would fit in the extra bin on my integra..
or do you suggest i get the new pioneer head unit DEH-P940MP CD/WMA/MP3 Player - OEL Display with Motorized Flap MSRP: $890.00. http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/Pi...,28913,00.html
the head unit i got isnt that old really...and not bad...its a pioneer premier DEH-P920R

the upgrade cost is about the same, but which is better?

i'd rather have the pioneer unit.. than a head unit and a hard drive in the lower bin.. does pioneer make a changer that reads MP3's that will attach to your 920R? I have an Alpine system. so I dont really keep up w/ Pioneers add on changers..

nope, they dont have an mp3 playing attachment...so its still for me to decide

This is the new one...I can get it for around 500

This is the one I current have, its about 9 months old.

This is the Rio Empeg...I can get the 20 GB version for around 550 (or less depending on auction)

So what do you guys think I should do?

this is just me but I think i'd go for the new deck... you could sell your old deck which would offset the cost somewhat of the new deck.. and still have your lower din slot available for things such as a DSP/EQ, turbo timer, guages, etc...

the only difference is that the rio can handle 20 gigs worth of MP3's....the pioneer...only a CD's full....

wait so the RIO is a Stereo FM/AM tuner and an MP3 20 gig HD player? either way if it was me.. i'd still get the pioneer deck.. then u can have AM/FM stereo tuner, regular Audio CD playing capability, MP3 playing capability w/ 700 MB discs you get about 150 or so songs and you can always carry a case logic full of burned cds.. w/ 150 songs you wont be changing much anyways.. that way you dont take up another din, get a new deck that looks better than your old one, etc.. I'd rather get the new pioneer deck..

I think i might end up keeping my HU, and then getting the Rio...
The only function the rio can do is play MP3's. I can hook it upto the stereo on the auxilary channel on the HU. I have 11 gigs of music on my HD right now, so that would take around 15 or so CD's to do...

Im not sure though...its a hard choice...im still contenmplating it

yea...that is a point...but there is still the aspect that if you want a certain song, you still have to search through the 15+ CD's

also, I think the pre amp outputs were lowered from 6.5 to 6.0.

I dont see why the pioneeer is so dam expensive, what makes it so much better than you current HU beside being able to play MP3's? You can get a Sony HU that plays MP3's for $200.

It looks nice as hell, but still, $800+!?

its not 800...its 500
i tend to like pioneer, and I love sony, but only for home theater, in my opinion, their car audio like blows

edit:
im also sure that if you compare this pioneer model ($500), with the sony model you are talking about ($200), it will be blown away in every category

If you are open to Kenwood, you should consider their Music Keg. The cartridge holds 10GB, I believe. You'll need to use a Kenwood deck though.

considering the fact I saw that thing at tweeter for 850 bucks (a rip off place like crutchfield), thats not an option of mine...and the fact that I would need to buy a kenwood deck deffinatley rules it out.

autopc uses CD's burned (of course) or a memory card...

Joyride uses CD, memory cards, and dvd's

Go the pioneer 9450
the customisable sub EQ and Filter controls are incredble. it makes it easy to setup speakers so you can push them to thier limits
plus the display is wild.

i bought the 9350 (last years model)
its totally cool

Have you considered other MP3 HU's such as the Alpine (CDA-7894, CDA-9893, CDA-7995, CDA-7897, CDA-7998) yet?

Check out the above forum. It might help.
