Need help with an alarm system question (unique question!)
Hey guys, heres my problem. I want to make my alarm system unique, partly for show, but partly cuz I like the way it sounds. Heres my plan. I am going to have a clifford IG 9000 alarm installed in my car, but I don't want the factory sound it comes with. I want to replace the sound, with the 98+ bmw "whistle" alarm sounds, like the one in the 7 series in the recent james bond movie. Now I know what you guys are probably saying, if you want the sound, just buy the bimmer, but I can't afford the bimmer and it's just the sound, I think it's kinda unique. I have been told by 2 different people at my local audio shop, as well as a BMW employee, that all I'd have to do to get this sound, is replace the siren in the alarm system, not the brain and the siren. Is this true? can just replacing the siren module under the hood give me the sound I want? or is it more complicated than that?
Thanks for any light you guys can shed on this subject

oh yea, alsmost forgot, if it's available in other bimmers besides the 7 series, what other cars would I find this system in? 3? 5?
A site with an install of an OEM siren on an e46 just so you get some idea of what it looks like.

i read your post and just thought i would say the 9000 has a 15 tone siren that all tones can be changed with a laptop but i dont think one that sound excatly like a bmw but close have you mesed with any of that if not a local dealer should have the software and the pc cable
the IG 9000 does have a bunch of different sirens tones, but you can't customize them, you can only select which ones are played in a series ( so your alarm woill sound different from any other ig9000's out there,. I have the software and cable, and used it in my gsr, its not very helpful. I will try just buying the alarm siren from a bmw when i get my alarm installed.
the only problem with changing sirens is that some alarm companies use constant 12v with switching ground (such as code alarm) and some use pulsed output from the brain. the problem that occures is that with mismatched siren and brain sometimes you get a really weird sound, like partial tones. but all sirens and alarm brains are safely interchangeable so try some different ones and good luck!
