Default My suspension feels hard as a rock......

I just put in my suspension today and when I took it for a test drive...I nearly knocked myself out! I knew it was going to be bad just leaving my driveway.
This is the same set-up I had on my 99 si and it wasnt nearly as stiff as it is on the rex. I have skunk2 CO's w/tokico struts. The front feels good. No problems there. Its the rear struts that's tight. It feels as though there's no springs. The car "feels" every single bump. God forbid there's a bigger bump/pothole. The funny thing is, it's not even low. It's set to 1 1/2 inches above the rear tire. I don't like it at all.
I want to change to some race springs, probably Eibach SL's or H&R's. Can somebody recommend some springs that feels good and drop's the car low enough (like 1 1/2 to 2 inches).?

i hear you on the skunk2's coilovers. i have them on the crx and they are very hard..everythiing is very tight..you hit a bump and you break your neck type of thing. it doesn't bounce or anything, just rebounds quickly. ouch. i have kyb agx's on there as well...they dont really help. no matter what setting they are on. but then again i have old suspension bushings.

my buddy and i both have koni yellows on our integras and they are awesome. i have neuspeed race springs, he has ground controls and both the cars ride really well. so i know comparing integras to crx's is apples and oranges but koni yellows HUGE

are both springs linear? if so, did you put the higher spring rate in the rear by accident???

Most rears on civics are linear, they save the progressives for the front. I dont know about SK2 coils, but i know for neuspeed, eibach, progressive, and GC coils, the rears are all linear. I'm looking for a new setup also..good luck with yours.

ummm i am going to disagree with you here. on a stock honda suspension, the fronts are linear springs and the rears are progressive. i'll take pics of my stock teg springs if you don't believe me...

also, my eibach pro-kit on my teg has progressive springs in the rear and linear springs up front...

i'll have to second breka on this one. the pro-kit that i installed just 3 days ago on my CRX have the linears on the front, progressives on the back. just make sure you didnt do anything stupid like i did when i installed the shocks with the dust boots still on. they were too small to clear the shock body when compressed giving me a very uncomfortable ride. d'oh!

I raised it up a bit, and that helps a little. It feels a tiny bit softer. Also, I used the dustcovers off the stock shock, i'm gonna take those off this morning. I'm gonna stick w/this set-up for a while, then get some tein's or equivalent later. The only reason I put the SK2's on was because I already had em. Oh BTW, Shoud i trim the bumpstops on the strut?

yeah, cut them in half. maybe that's the problem?

i cut my bumpstops in half when i install springs/shocks. i use the bigger end of the bumpstop.

hth.

might as well. 4th gens have pretty short suspension travel to begin with so every little bit you can give it will help. i cut one of mine in half and used the pieces on both side.

I am such a knuckle head. When I first assembled the suspension, I looked over the fact that the dustcovers would significantly reduce suspension travel due to the fact that they are METAL. The covers from my 99 si were plastic so I thought nothing of it. When I removed them this morning and trimmed the bumpstop, I automatically knew that that's were the problem lied. I test drove it.....and I am pleased. It's a much better ride. It doesnt bounce on every little bump now. I even lowered it to the height that I had it earlier. Well, thanks for the responses guys.
