Default anyone in here NOT running a resonator? here is why...

i am getting a new exhaust system bent up for me tomorrow and installed along with a 20" N1 style muffler. the guy said not to bother installing a resonator when i told him i am going to boost the car in January..

what do you guys think?? i dont want it to sound like chit... i have a different N1 style muffler on it now with the stock piping and it sounds good and i would like to keep a similar sound..

any help/advice/suggestions will be appreciated

BTW 1995 accord ex f22b1 with short ram intake.. thanks!

its not that hard to take out is it? you could either do it urself before ur boost comes or have it done @ the same time

the exhaust guy's right, you don't want a resonator if you running a turbo.

the turbo itself will quiet thing down.

My old 2.5 inch turbo back w/ straight flow muffler is quieter than my na setup.

just something for you, why you want to run on a turbo muffler when you have month before going boost? it will sounds like an **** and you'll lose alot of low end torque

I disagree. I was running turbo + 3" straight through muffler only (no cat, no res.) and it was very raspy. Sounded good inside the car, but sounded like buzzy riceboy crap outside the car.

I had a resonator installed and it sounds 1000% better both outside the car and in.

My $0.02.

It all depends on the muffler. A resonator will just quiet down the noise a little.
Just go without a resonator for now. If you wish to change your mind you can always have a resonator welded in place.

have them put the resonator in the car. they are welders that you pay to do a certin job. so have them weld it in just like you want. i will sound better with it in.

well i got it done this morning without the resonator and its not that bad... at certain rpm(low) it gets slightly raspy...

i am going to jersey for thanksgiving next week with my 5 year old and i think i am going to have a resonator installed for the time being..

after i go turbo i will see how it sounds/flows etc.. plus dyno outcome..

any recommendations on resonator length?? 20", 22" or 24"??

thanks

BTW the muffler note is nice and deep, just a little louder than my previous N1 setup with stock piping.. now i have 2.5" crush piping from the catback..

is this from sitting inside the car? if so have a friend drive the car and you follow them in another car, see how it sounds. I bet it's raspier than you think.

have them weld flanges on the resonator and make you a straight-pipe of equal length so you can remove it whenever you want
