Rockers Rotted - What Are My Options? CHEAP
I bought an EF today, the drivers sdie rocker under the door is pooched though, like there are 2 6"X2" holes where there isnt even metal anymore, right under the middle of the door. I plan on removing all the rusty falling off pieces down there but what can I do to cheaply replace them?
-pop rivet sheetmetal?
-pop rivet plastic
Need some ideas on what people do
Maybe there are sideskirts or something that fit over it and would cover

If you want it to look good you should cut the rust completly out and replace it with new sheet metal. Im sure you can buy new rockers somewhere on the net. try http://www.hondapartsdeal.com they should have a new rocker for you.

X2 , you can't just put trim panels over the damage , this will continue to get worse with time so it needs to be delt with if you truly plan on restoring the car.

It pretty much goes from the back of the bottom of the door to the middle of the door on the rocker and some of the hole is even coming into the lip inside the door
I doubt I could sheetmetal that, I do have a welder but its a fluxcored one
I dunno if fiberglass could fill this gap either lol

I have a similar question, but regarding the upper part of the floor boards on an 84' Yota pickup. How much would it cost for a welding shop to weld some panels in place if I give them precut pieces of metal?

It will cost quite a bit to have shop do that. I would try and do it your self.
As for the fiberglass in the rocker, tiger hair will fix your problem. it will take time but it will work.

well how we usually do it here in ireland is if its not too rotten and is just on the outer part, not where the sill joins to the underside of the car then we usually cut out the rust and weld a patch over it.
rust is a big thing with older cars here because its wet most of the time.
personally by the sound of it id cut out the rust, treat the metal around the rusty area with some of that stuff that reacts with rust to form a sandable metal or iron ore or some **** then patch it and paint it. id give the rust converter stuff a blast inside the sill too before the hole is patched.
we have these silly annual MOT tests and if there is a hole or any weak areas they end up getting poked thru at the MOT and your car will fail as its part of the structure of the car so has to be a proper welding jop to keep strength in the panel.

cut all the rust out, and mold some fiberglass over it. but if its too bad just replace the whole thing. you might be able to find a good rocker at a junk yard, maybe theyll let you cut it out.
you can cut around the bad spots, or drill out the spot welds holding the rocker on. if you go to use tiger hair, after you pack the rust hole with a the hair, for the final coat of it put the tiger hair on waxed paper. then put it on the rocker and smooth it out through the waxed paper. tape the paper onto the car and when its done remove the waxed paper. it helps hold the tiger hair in the hole while drying and it leaves a smoother finish. (less sanding) my .02 for patching some bad rust holes on beaters.
