Does a distributor cost $300 bucks?
A mechanic that I know says he found the problem with my car, after it died on the street. Its the dizzi and said it would cost 300 bucks, does that sound right? There is no way in hell im going to pay 300 bucks for that part.
http://www.distributorking.com/ Check their prices they are really fair. They also only sell new parts.
It does from Honda or you can get Distributor King. They have great product and price. I have one on my car and know several people that also have them.

for new, oem are a grip. lots of people, as mentioned, have had good luck with distributor king.
i prefer oem parts, so i've always gotten low mileage oem units from the wreckers and have never had a problem at about half the cost of d-k.
what kind of motor do you have? i've got an extra mpfi dizzy that i could send you. fits any 88-91 si/hf/ex.

The distributors are 300.00 at a parts store, which is bullshit. I needed one because i thought mine went bad, but i said expletive that, I could buy a new stock motor for that much. ive never tryed that dizzy king guy, but id give it a try over buying one for 300

There are many parts in there! the distibutor housing itself which includes some wiring, crank angle sensor, ignitor, bearings for the shaft, rotor, cap, rotor cover and ignition coil.
Aftermarket dizzy's are definitly less $$, and are pretty doos quality exccept the ignitor which is not as good as OEM.

i just think its stupid that one part cost so much money. i mean even the cheaper ones are as much as a motor. a stock motor.

Umm, a new stock engine costs over $4,000 - and the distributor is not included.
You can't compare used junkyard parts to new or even remanufactured parts. The fair market value of the vehicle is also irrelevent to the cost of a part.

whoa.. im talking about a stock d16a6 engine.. not a b,h,k searies engine.. if you got a d series for 4 grand you got ripped off. around here and many other places you can get a stock motor(d15b2/d16a6) for around 100-300 dollars.

New from Honda, I think not...
New is what Targa was referring to.

Because you're getting a brand new untouched engine with factory bore and zero running hours, instead of a 280,000 mile piece of **** with bearings worn to nothing that burns oil by the barrel and leaks like a sieve?
Like I said, you can't compare brand new or reman parts to old used stuff. I don't understand why you're complaining about distributor prices.

You don't get out much then.
Nobody buys them anymore for old junkers like we drive, but engine assemblies are sold all the time for cars in the 0-10 year age range.
