Default Noise when releasing clutch

Alright guys, here goes, my car seems to be making noises when i release my clutch pedal. I rev the car up to 1500 rpm and i can hear these small noises coming from the transmission, kind of like grinding noises, then when i press the clutch in, i just hear the motor, no grinding noises, just a healthy engine. What do you guys think it could be. These noises are also noticeable when in lower rpms while driving i.e. 1000-1500 rpm in third gear. Someone help, this is getting on my nerves.

sounds like an input shaft or mainshaft bearing. regardless, sounds like the tranny is going to have to come out. sorry.

input shaft bearing for sure
when you replace it, also do both bearings atop the shafts, in the outer housing, and the counter shaft bearing on the clutch housing
meaning...do all main 4 bearings, because it would suck to change one and still have the noise

So what's the difficulty of changing the bearings? Are the bearings expensive, or would it be wise to get one from hmotors

My 97 DX has a whining noise when clutch is engaged. It goes away when clutch pedal is pressed down. 165k on it

prices and part numbers @ http://www.slhonda.com, find where it says parts, go from there.

There is a how-to on this site somewhere, check the FAQ or helpful thread...whatever its called...at the top.
Its not "easy" but as long as you have a good manual you will be fine. It will take you a long time.

noises that pop up when the cluch is down, is throwout/pilot bearing
