Default so what could this be

so i might be buying a 91 rs with 90k original miles head short ram and some coilovers. but here is what im wondering i took it for a drive and when it starts cold it smokes white. then when i was driving it i got on it alittle and alot of white smoke came out what is that? aslo is it worth it? im getting it for $600 and im doing the body work and painting his truck. so what do you guys think. need to know quick what the smoke might be casue im going to get it this week or next. thanks alot

correct me if I am wrong but I think white smoke is steam. It might have a blown headgasket.

600, without the favor of you painting his truck.

Try driving it again, if it was burning oil, you would Definitely smell it.
Headgasket is a lot easier to change then rings, or valve seals though.

i know its not burning oil and i think he did say somthing about he had to keep refilling the coolant. i have been a eg guy so is the car worth it?

With only 90k original miles, it's a decent price.

If the job for doing his truck isn't something like 2k worth of work, then yes.
I don't think I'd pay more then 1500 because of the need to replace the Headgasket.

Usually white smoke is water and blue smoke is oil. If it's fully warmed up and still kicking out white smoke then yes, that is most likely water.

the coolant is leaking through the head gasket causing the coolant to mix with the engine oil. if he hasn't been driving since the white smoke than it should be ok. just replace the head gasket flush out the oil with some gunk engine cleaner, flush the coolant and it should be cool. DA with only 90k can probably sell for about $3-4k if it's clean and running well.

the body work is only about 100 bucks worth and the i only charge 300 bucks for a paint job so all in all im only doing 900 for the car. thanks for the info guys if i get it ill post up some pics.
