snapped timing belt!!
well... as the tittle seas... i snapped my timing belt on my 91 crx...
not sure what the tottall damage is yet... its still on the side of the highway... i sure hope its not parted out and on a back road yet... i dont know what my options are... i want to rebuild it, but i have no money, i have no second car, im completely screwed... i was working on painting the car, sanding it down and what not, had upcoming turbo plans, i had so much into this car... now the timing belt snapped... who knows what else it messed up... im sure anyone else who has put time and money into a car can understand how i feel right now, so empty... i dont know how im going to sleep, i fear its already on a back road

lol sorry man. my uncles talking like it will cost around 300 to fix. im thinking of looking for an ef sedan for the time being. not sure... trying to find means of money. the weirdest thing about it is that last night i took my door card off because i was doing some sanding on my door and didnt want to scuff the door, and under the door card was yellow (y49)... we all know about y49... i think a lot of my car parts were pulled off of another car... so i dont know. well we never did put the door card back on, and driving today with my gf in the pass. seat i mentioned the curse and she is all yea w/e if you beleave in that stuff, and i was telling her if you ask any y49 owner they baleave it, and 10 minutes later the timing belt snapped... i dont know... is it the y49 curse? was it because she didnt beleave? was it because we uncoverd the y49? is it coisadinse?

im not sure if that made any sense... but okay...
just figured out i have over 800$ in savings bonds, of course there sapose to be for college, but i think this is a case were i need them, so i think ill see how much it costs to fix the engine, and then fix anything else on the car that needs to be with the rest of the money.

uh.. for $450 you can just get a d15b2 from http://www.hmotorsonline.com .. so you get more horsepower, vtec, and *nearly* plug and play compatibility. so.. save your $800 and go with the d15b2. just one wire to run for vtec and thats it..

this happened to me about 6 weeks ago, drivin home from work at 11 at night and cruisin 55 and my timing belt snapped, pulled over, got a ride home. next day i came back around noon with a jack some tools and a new timing belt and changed it on the side of the highway in about 45 minutes becuz of my rigged motor mount. car started right up and i've been drivin it ever since. have you tried puttin a new belt on it and seein if it starts up? idk thats what i did and it worked for me idk how fast you were goin but i was doin a good 55.

Wrong, most of the time valves do get bent but sometimes they dont. I broke a belt on a d15b2 replaced belt and everything was fine

you should be fine putting a new belt on and driving it. once the bely snapped the only reason the engine died was because the valves stopped moving so there is is no way they should be bent.
well its still on the side of the highway, its going to be gotten tonight, i think i have decided to get a zc for 400 + shipping. i guess if it just needs a timing belt i wont get a new motor, but im actually hoping that it messed everything up, so i have an excuse to get a zc. how much more work is there to put in the d15b compared to the zc? and im going to put a turbo on, so what one is better for a turbo?
can i run the p08 ecu on my car?
for those who want to know, i was probably going around 75mph, and i cranked the engine for quit some time trying to get it to start before i realized it was the timing belt.

What these people have failed to tell you is that you're going to have to change out a lot of parts on that "new" motor like the timing belt, water pump, seals, gaskets and most likely the alternator; they're still used engines and if you don't change this stuff before your install it, you'll be kicking yourself. Trust me on this one. My point is that you're still going to be spending a lot of money on a new swap. My advice is fix the timing belt if the head's still good and save that goddamn money for college, you'll be able to afford any EF **** you need when you graduate
Yea if you want to save money you can get a 16v head from a junkyard for like $40 or so and then do a timing belt and head gasket and you will have yourself a good motor..and if you feel like it whil eyou have it apart throw some new rings and bearings in the bottom end and you fresh rebuilt a6 will feel just as nice as a old worn out zc and be cheaper...
anyone ever buy from hmotorsonline? do you deffinately have to change those parts? you really think it would be better to just rebuild mine? even if it is going to cost me 500 at a machine shop?
and what if i have any bottom end damage?
as for saving the money for college, im not planning on going to college anyway, im in a vo-tech school, and most likely going to get a job right out of high school

Yes they are and yes they will...you can get lucky sometimes but more thn likely you have some bent valves but you can get some new valves or just a new head for fairly cheap

Wrong. Honda builds interference engines, meaning the turning of the crankshaft is directly related to the turning of the camshaft and valves. If the timing belt, which controls and synchronizes the movement of these two, fails, you may end up with bent valves. The best way of knowing is changing the belt and seeing if you got lucky.

yea, thats of course the 1st thing i have to do, and if it isnt that, then w/e i have a new timing belt that i will put on the zc or junk yard head, depending on what way i go

yea, but i dont feel like dealing with obd-1 conversion, and chipping ecu, for vtec and what not, from what i hear vtec is not all its said to be, it sounds like its just some letters on a valve cover
