Default Huge rattle?

I have a huge rattle from my exhaust or something. As i'm taking off from 1st gear you can hear it and when I rev it at constant from 2-4K it rattles heavly. Any ideas what this could be?

Check the heat shield on top of your catalytic converter. If it is loose, remove it.

Where is it rattling from? Find out...could just be a broken mounting bracket/weld.

Why remove it? Just tighten it back up.

To the OP, it's probably just some heatshield.

When the heat shield on the catalytic converter rattles, it typically has broken free of the mounting bolts at the corners. The only way to reattach it in that case is to weld it.

My exhaust sheild rattled realy bad, so i just took it off. its nicer now that it is off b/c my short shifter doesn't hit it and its easier to take off the shift linkage.

I found out that it wasnt my cat. it was my resonator. I want to get a new cat back exhaust for my integra. I have a 92 DA right now and was wondering if a 94 exhaust could maybe fit on my car with light modifications done to it? I'm in need of a new cheap exhaust ASAP.

BTW, alot of times the "A-pipe" (ie the bottom half of the header) rattles. It has a pipe inside a pipe that loves to rattle later in life. The DC exhaust is grossly different then the DA, so its not going to fit....even with "minor" modification. You might as well make exhaust from scratch then try to refit it.

Removing the heat shield = parking on grass and catching it on fire = getting sued by state = your phucked.

Dont remove your heat shield. Go get it re-welded.

This has happened with one of the members of my family and he is now serving a very long dept repayment for burning down a large area of grass and forest. Not like a whole national forest but neighborhood size.

Removing the heatshield ABOVE the cat doesnt have anything to do with grass that is underneath it catching on fire.

The top shield typically comes off on Integras. Water must collect there carrode the corners.

Bottoming out? Even on a slammed car, my cat never scrapped and certainly not to the point of falling off. Plus, its not like you're driving your slammed integra through the grassy knoll. Also, the cat/bottom of the header area dont really get hot enough to light grass on fire unless its really really really dried up.

I was thinking about just getting a new muffler, and getting 2.25 inch piping underneeth and getting an N1 Burn T-Tip muffler from ebay. Should I do that or is it not worth it? Right now all I have is a 4 inch fart can. I have an intake and header and I would like to gain as much HP out of an exhaust as I possibly can. Help would be great
