Default H22 running rich and burning oil.

I've had this problem for quite a while now. Swapped in an h22 bout 6 months ago and it's always had a problem with running rich and burning oil, and it's really annoying cause I can't figure it out. I've replaced the spark plug rubber seals a month ago and that helped alot but oil is still dripping down the spark plugs and make my engine misfire sometimes and is kiknda annoying. Also, the spark plugs are really really black, though I can't figure out why. No cels, everyone I've checked looks fine, the only thing is a couple days ago I almost hydrolocked my engine, went through a huge puddle on accident and didn't hydro my engine but I think it got a little water in it cause it was misfiring on the way home. So any ideas and help would be great!

If there is oil in the spark plug holes, those seals are the culprit....do you have some kinda ebay valve cover on there or something??

The running rich could be do to many things, start by making sure the fuel system is clean and functioning well, check the FPR, if you have some kinda aftermarket one, get a stock one.....then replace the o2 sensor, and make sure your timing is set correctly, check it with a timing light

Thx for the reply. Everything is stock except AEM CAI and dc sports headers. I was just thinking when I almost hydrolocked the engine, the filter probly got really wet, and not allowing much air through, maybe that would be part of the reason? The valve cover is stock h22a valve cover, I replaced the seals a month ago, and that actually seamed to work fine for a bit, but now I see oil dripping down the spark plugs when I take em out. Quick question, I've been needing to get a new air filter for awhile, but the aem replacement ones are like 50 bucks, any cheeper ones that are still good quality? Thanks for all the help!

You'll spend about $50 on a filter anyways, just go for the AEM filter

The filter is not the problem with the engine though....do you still have tach and CEL problems like you were having a bit ago??

No, thank goodness I got that fixed, not sure how, but it is fixed now, tach never jumps and no cels cept for the egr, that's always been there just cause I haven't gotten anything other than the p13 i'm using yet and the h22 is swapped into a teg. Man the aem filters are spendy, o well. O also, since I went into a huge puddle with my CAI my idles been a bit higher too, at cold start up it idles at about 2300 instead of a nice 1500-1700, not sure why that is, but maybe that will help figure out the problem.

Well the very first thing I would look at spending $$ on would be an ems and a p28 or p72
