i have an h22 and it has recently been making some rattling noise from the valves. it gets louder as you rev it up a little. can this be just be some adjustments on the valve lash? if it is... how much will it cost if i take it to the shop?

 

It could be. What kind of fuel are you buying...what brand? If you're buying the cheapo gas, it could be making your valves rattle. All gas companies don't purify their fuel the same way or through as extensive processes as the others.

 

not sure of what brand but alway premium. i add a bottle of fuel injector cleaner about every other month or so.

 

Certain fuel companies put starches and cleaners in their fuel, too. I only buy from the top three. If you don't, at least run it every once in awhile. BP, Amoco(they are NOT the same) and Shell. Amoco and Shell run 5 processes to clean the fuel. BP runs 4. Texaco has an okay system. I wouldn't buy from anywhere else. You're valves may still be out of adjustment, but if they are pinging because of bad fuel, I'd buy from one of these. Premium does not equal premium.

 

i know this is not the same but on my dads F150 the valves rattle on a certain gas and dont on another...same concept thou

 

i usually go to different gas stations all the time. but it rattles on all of them. maybe just not as loud on some, but not sure?

 

Well, like I said, you just might have to adjust your valves.

I HAVE THE SAME PROB. WITH MY H22. I WENT THROUGH THE WHOLE GAS DEAL ALSO. STILL RATTLES AROUND 3-5K RPMS. ANY INFO ON ADJUSTING VALVES???

how much will it cost to get it done at the shop? what is a good deal on it?

It's not the top 3...I don't use it. Check cnn.com. They do research every year on the quality of fuel.
