Default sohc zc w/ z6 head

I was just curious if anyone on here has done it. The pistons from the zc should bump the the compression to 12 and if you use the y8 head gasket it should be even higher right? reply if you know anything about this setup. Is there anything I should do differently compared to the a6?

The year of the sohc zc will depend if its same comp ratio or not. Either way it'll work just fine. Most of the single ZCs we deal with are same comp ratio so really exact same thing being the cam is gone anyway when you mini me it.

Just do it like a normal mini me you'll be fine.

Yes, also a difference the later sohc ZCs had a lil higher comp... ones of our years was same comp ratio.

I have done the ZC complete head with A6 bottom end. I was told by Tyson everything internally on the block was identical, with the exception of the head (cam).

With the header, I have to say, the car does perk up a bit. Nothing major mind you, but it really likes to pull from 80-up now. lotta fun. I'll still be picking up an AEM CAI and either Edelbrock IM or Y8 IM.

I've got the dohc pistions in my garage so if they're not identicle i'll just change them out. The z6 with 12:1 compression should be faster then the sohc zc right? I've spent the money on the head and p28 so i feel there's no turning back.

yes, a 12:1 comp. z6 would be a lot faster than a stock sohc zc.

just do it.

there is a sohc thread about using the dohc pistons. When you go up that much compression you have to you premium fuel. but they didn't say anything about race gas. But i hope this swap will be satisfying. I'm doing other stuff to make it faster like fuel pressure, timming, headers, and full exhuast. So I know i'll feel the difference this spring but I'm not going to be expecting much. Its going to be fun working on everything so atleast i wont be too bored.
