I have to hold the Key in the ignition to keep it started...
I have a 91 Honda Accord (auto). Recently, I went to start my car and as soon as I would take my hand off the key, the car would stop running. Finally, I did it for about 20 times and I held the key in the ignition and the car kept running, so I drove my car home from work holding the key in the ignition to keep it started. When I take my hand off the key it turns back and does not start anymore. I had a new key made and it didn't solve the problem. I am wondering if someone can tell me if I need an ignition switch or an ignition lock assembly to f?ix this problem?
the electrical part of the ignition switch needs to be replaced. Fairly easy job, remove the steering column shroud, then you'll see the electrical part held on with 2-7mm bolts. Unplug the old one from the fuse box area, plug in the new one and bolt it back up.
