intermittent driveability problem
I've got a '96 GSR 5-spd with 140K that normally runs great. I love the car. Most fun car I've ever owned. But it's developed a real intermittent driveability issue.
A couple of times a month when accelerating, the engine completely sags, doesn't die, just sags.
Push on the gas, let the clutch out like normal, car starts to accelerate, then it just plain sags.
Let off the gas the car idles fine, but when I start to acclerate again it picks up to about 1500rpm and then just sags again. It will repeat this a few times, buck a couple of times and then run perfect for days at a time.
It makes pulling out into traffic kind of hairy, and that's one of the things this car does best is finding small holes in traffic.
The check engine light has never come on. It does work, I checked it.
Last spring after it started doing this I replaced the IAC valve and solenoid, and I just had the fuel system cleaned with that stuff they put in through the throttle body. Made no difference.
Anybody got any ideas?
Ive also got an idle question. My car idles at 750rpm. When I kick on the a/c it drops to about 500 for about 2 secs and then picks up to 800-900 is that normal for this car?
Sorry about the long post but I couldn't thing how to describe it shorter.
Thanks
