Hey guys,
my daily drive sounds like its doomed - just wondering on your opinions on this.

first of all got a 93 d16z6 civic,


was driving home (a 250 mile journy) and all was goo until the last 5 miles or so when i noticed the engine start to heat up to just under red and occasionally the oil pressure light was flashing on occasionally. seeings as i was 5 miles from home and the temperature had dropped i decided to drive home.

checked the oil and it was bone dry - this amazed me as id just did a oil change a week ago. filled it up with oil - no problems. last night driving home - not driving the car hard at all. i hear a knocking sound at about 4k - i carry on driving the car home slow as possible to avoid the knocking.

the car is in this state now - at idle, no knocking at all. 2.5k revs and above the most horrible sound is coming from the engine block - after reading other threads on this topic i checked to see where abouts the sound was coming from, it is 99% sure coming from the head - looks like the passenger side, of the engine.

please guys your thoughts on this problem would be appriciated as this is my daily drive and it needs sorting as i really cant be arsed to blow my engine and do a swap!

Try a valve adjustment but if that doesnt work pull the oil pan and check the rod bearings.
