Default got a ticky engine thread

thanks for havin me on the forum. anyway. i recently got back from a 15 month paid vacation to a place you might have seen on the news called iraq. durring my fun filled trip my wife had my 99 lx. she made a trip to cali from georgia and back during this time. and of course she didnt do an oil change. i checked the oil and it didnt seem too bad but it did kinda smell like fuel. might just be my nose. when i drove it the first day home i noticed a ticking noise only present when i rev the engine. you cant hear it that well from inside the car. the only reason i can hear it is because i know my car. she couldnt hear it untill i showed her were the sound is coming from. the farthest driver side cylinder. not sure what it is. tomarrow im gonna yank off the stupid heat shield for the exhaust manifold and see if its leaking. ANYWAY. im lookin for some opinions on the matter. ill try to get a video if some1 thinks it will help. oh btw i changed the oil today and it did not affect the sound at all. thanks for whatever advise you all can give me.

UPDATE! so i removed the heat shield kinda. i aint got the right wrench for the sensor thingy. i sounds like its coming from the crank shaft area. i should have yanked off the oil pan when i was down there. i guess another oil change wouldnt hurt it. it pretty much makes the sound after its reved. like when the engine is going back to idle. im gonna have a engine shop listen to it. its hard to find a good motor shop in hinesville, ga tho. well if it is my camshaft im not gonna replace it. ima do a swap. is the f20 a direct bolt in?

Im am almost positive the F2O is not a DIRECT bolt on, but you could be a
tester-rat and let us know how it turns out!
