My boy with a ITR with basic bolt-ons actually put it on a State Trooper. This cop was super cool and ran my friend in his ITR. From what I heard the ITR got him off the line and thru a couple gears, after that it was all state trooper.

Ford quotes:
"RWD construction"
"Engine - 250-hp 4.6L SEFI V8 with overhead cam"

They're made to go fast in a straight line, like most american cars. I wouldn't be surprised if that horsepower rating is a little low. I used to see police vehicles at the trick trucks & cars next door all the time.

It also depends on what cop you into. Cops who deal more with highway stops i.e. state troops have higher powered cars. My friend who is a cop said they have something called a "Cop Package" or something. I"m not sure what kinda numbers they put down tho.

cop packages do not add any hp unless their dept orders a special one...cop packages usually include different tires and stiffer springs along with wiring/cages/and the bull bars/etc

Virginia State Police have new Mustang GT's for highway patrol. Saw a high speed chase with a Porsche -vs- Police Mustang GT. It was awesome.

personally I'm glad the report said the chase was only 10 mins, less chance for the douche that stole it to wipe out and ruin the car. A friend of mine's camaro was stolen and the guy in it ran from the cops and ended up totaling it.

Those are the stats for a new Crown Vic Police Enforcer. But I know that certain places make specialized versions. I saw once on TV some place in mississippi or something where they tricked out an old mustang specifically for high speed chases because the regular units couldn't compete with the modded muscle and tuner cars.

They have a lot of new Dodge Charger cop cars around here on the highways. They look like serious business, but I've only ever seen them sitting on the side of the road...I wanna see one actually chase somebody.

You're kidding! How did they start talking about that? That's funny if they actually were...lol.

Honestly I think (some) of these turbo'd honda/acuras on this board can out run most police cruisers. Straightline or through bends.

Yeah, I've yet to see one of the hemi cop cars in action either. I saw one in Myrtle Beach and one in Wilmington... but I haven't seen one in Raleigh at all.

LOL....police cruisers....

my car can outrun a police cruiser....you do realize they are stock crown victorias right?? They put springs, a K&N air filter, and a chip in the ecu, and thats it....they're very slow.....

NEVER run from the cops though, its rly not worth it, you put yourself, innocent bystanders, your car, the cop, the cop car, etc, in danger...not worth it at all
