ehhh.... with the ignition switch... it will normally fire up while you are holding the key in the forward possition, but once you let go it will die out......

Check the resistance for the wire that goes from the battery to the starter, also check the ground from the starter to chassis. The problem could be one of these wires. Not uncommon.
p.s. The wires should have only 1 or 2 ohms.

i think that might be the problem with mine 2. my friend also brought up that when u crank the key, if u hear a click, then it would be ur starter that is the problem. the click that he was referring to is some type of a relay click sound i'm guessing...

Read my other post im trying to help you save money by DIAGNOSING the problem instead of throwing parts at it ,only to still not know wtf is wrong with your car. Everyone tells people oh its this part or oh its this part and then you waste money. Diagnosis is free and not hard. I have seen battery cables cause this problem many times and they are a hell of a lot cheaper than a new starter or ignition switch.

check to see if the battery connection is good or has no corrosion.

you can test if you're getting power to your starter easily by taking a test light and seeing if you're getting power at where the power wire connects with a nut. then also check to see if you're getting power at the solenoid. it should blink quickly if you're getting power.

check the black flat piece that connects to the starter. and ground the starter to the chassis on its own. mine wouldnt start as well cuz i forgot to ground it.

here's a good way to check the ignition switch, have someone crank, and see if power is getting to the small wire on the starter
