Is there black smoke coming out of the exhaust? Check the spark plugs too. Pull em out and see if they're all black.

You should stick a wideband and there and you will know for sure if it's running rich.

fuel pressure regulator could be failing and dumping too much fuel...or a shot o2 sensor can cause the problem as well but the o2 will usually trigger a CEL

Your best bet is to check the plugs. If their not fouled your probably stoich.

Maybe you have a gas leak somewhere.

What?

Dude, check the plugs. They'll tell you more than you could imagine.

I have a tip. Stop assuming and guessing. The exhaust smells like gas.....well no duh, the engine does run off the stuff. You dont know if its running rich or not and you're just going around changing random **** expecting it to magically fix a problem that might not even really exist. If its not backfiring, blowing black smoke out the *** or stumbling.....then its not running all that rich.
