Benen Rear Lower Tie bar doesnt fit in my 99 LS.. advice?
The brake line is in the way of where the Benen Rear Lower Tie bar would fit. There is no way the bar would fit inbetween the subframe and the line. To my understanding the tie bar was straight bolt-on, no modifications.. I really don't want to mess with the brake line, its alot more important than a tie bar.
Should i send it back or do you guys have any other advice?
any help would be much appreciated

I just unbolted the two bolts that hold the brackets. Use a zip tie and tie it on the bar. Been running for over 2 yrs no probs.
I had the same problem with putting that on my itr. Benen said it will work and nothing will get in the way. They were pretty much wrong on that part.
The best you can do is unbolt the brakeline brackets and sort of move them upwards or at least away some what so you can screw down the tie bar. Just zip tie the abs brackets when you are done. Kinda ghetto rigged, but it works fine.

do you guys have any pics of your setup? I dont really want to zip-tie the brake line to the bar, I mean, it's bolted to the subframe (with 2 bolts) for a reason right?.... Hmmm.. decisions decisions... Anyone else?
There was a pic someone had of their Type-R Sway bar and Benen bar, i can't find it though.. any help?
Thanks.

I would like to see what the Benen bar looks like as well. I dont think any shops up in Vancouver, Canada sells Benen products.
It's not the brake line that you're moving, its the ABS sensor wire that you're moving. Nearly every rear lower tie bar I've put on requires removing this bracket. I typically unbolt the bracket, then take the bracket off the wire, put on the tie bar, put convoluted tubing on the brake line, and then zip tie it.

but yeah, i just removed those plates holding the ABS sensor line and zip tied them nicely to the bar, i think it looks just fine and it works just the same

It's not the brake line that you're moving, its the ABS sensor wire that you're moving. exactly, the wire in questionhere is an electrical wire for the ABS sensors. modify the brackets or zip tie them to the LCAs. there is no fluid or mess inside these lines, they are wires... easily moved/modified.
I couldn't have said it better myself... Oh wait..
Thanks for the advice guys. I'm gonna go ahead and try the zip tie thing tonight. Thank you for clarifying that it was an ABS sensor wire, I wasnt exactly sure what it was so i called it a brake line
...
reefer_bob, is it necessary to wrap the line in tubing? Will it be fine if I only use zip ties?.
I'm not making a big deal about it, I'm just trying to be safe. You dont have to read my posts if you don't want to.
Thanks guys,
Alex
