Are you saying that you know it has bent valves? or you saying you think it might have bent valves? Also from from your desription it sounds like you might be off a tooth or 2. Hope everything works out for ya

did you break a belt and then replace it or replace it before it broke? cause if it snapped my bet is on bent valves, i know a guy who snapped one doin 60, long story short he got a new motor

Did you do the timing belt replace yourself, or was it done 'professionally'? Take it back if so, sounds like its off a couple of teeth and your timing is waaaay off... if you did it yourself... get another set of eyes to look at it while you're re-doing it and double check your alignment marks.

i dont know if the valves are bent, thats what some people told me who looked at it.
"Our" local mechanic did the replacment, he told me that he is pretty sure that he put the marks in the right place.
crawfo661: no i just replaced it befor it would of broke. The old belt was 50 k overdue

i tried to talk to the guy all he said that it needs tune up, but i did my plugs not that long ago, and wires seemed ok. And i dong think it could cause it to be THAT bad.
i thought that the timing is off right away.

so my question is will it wreck the engine until i get someone to get the timing straight

thanks

my advise to you, since you seemingly dont know how to do it yourself, Get a manual on the car, haynes or whatever you can find....read on how to do it and just do it yourself. These kind of stories are exactly why i took to doing my own work on cars... belive me, setting the timing is cake, IDK why this "mechanic" says he "prety sure" WTF you are either SURE or NOT. If not a good mechanic would recheck it... but damn seeme like he's an idiot, truly

So if ill set the timing right, it should be fine, like my engine is not wrecked right now, right?

so I assume you have a swap?

Does "your" mechanic have knowledge of the non-standard setup?

What engine are you running? My D15xxx build is supposed to idle in the range you spec.

Buy a timing light and check it
they are cheap, and you should learn to dbl check the work you have done
as the ole saying goes"If you want it done right, do it yourself"

I am not saying that you have a bad mechanic helping you, not at all
I suggest you check what is ez to check, you are there, we are not

Checking the timing requires nothing other than the light, just clip it on and look.
you never know, his light may be off

its a d15b2 stock(well, intake) Belt was done due to the scary overdue that i found out about after i bought the car.
And it worked perfect before, like a clock, now it runs like **** and its slow as hell
I just hope its not to late and its not wrecked

correct

if it is off enough to put the valves in reach of the pistons it would be obvious

my d15b is set to factory spec 600-800 rpm at warm idle

you can get a timing light for around 20 bucks
grab one and check the timing

if you are not sure about doing it(it is real ez), just PM me after you have the light and I will inform you

BTW
it really does sound like all it is is wrong timing
very simple to fix
