I have an 89 crx si with a tranny thats whines like a bitch and i was wondering if anyone on knows whether or not a civic ex or dx tranny will work on my car?.....THANKS!

 

yeah 88-91 hf,dx,ex,si trans will work.

oh and some guy on here said HF sucks.

 

no no, i'm sorry when i said dx or ex, i meant from the 93-99 model civics, some body told me "no" cuz mine is cable ad those are hydraulic.

 

It won't work and won't bolt in...unless you do a total custom fab job whichi is not worth the time and effort.

 

I had a massive whine in my 90 Si tranny. I pulled the motor, and took the tranny to my local tranny shop. He took a look at it, and found the imput shaft bearing had sat with no oil. Thus the dry bearing had become 'fucked'. The bearing was $36.70 CAD, and cost me maybe 10 hours to pull the motor, port and polish the head, and reinstall it.

The tranny guy charged me $400, and he did a complete rebuild. You'd be better off to do the same, cause for the price a different tranny will cost you, you could have a completely reconditioned one that geared for your rex.

 

Does anybody on here have or no where i can buy a tranny for my 89 si...THANKS!
