my girlfriend has a base RSX and she likes it (heh i like it too
) but here are a few things to consider.
1. are you going to kick yourself later for not getting the type s *aka you will buy thousands of dollars in mods to make your car look and be as fast as a types* then you should just splurge now.
2. The base can run on regular gasoline, the typeS requires Premium.
3. Do you give a crap about leather and a mediocre bose sound system (that you might want to change anyway)
4. Do you care about it being a six speed or having a higher redline and being faster?
Imo if you do not plan do mod the car for PERFORMANCE, just get a base RSX, the interior and exterior is almost identical (minus leather and stereo) but you can get leather if you want and you can get a better stereo setup aftermarket anyway. If you plan on trying to make your car perform better, or autocross or whatever then get the TypeS. Me personaly i will probably only buy the top model of whatever car I buy, just so i dont regret seing people driving around in the car i "should have had"
For my g/f, she didnt want the leather, she got the OEM spoiler and foglights, she already had an entire stereo setup that i put in her last car, she didnt give a crap about 6 speed and 200hp becuase the 160hp was mountains more power than her last car (105hp 92 civic lx) and she would rather pay for cheaper gas. For her it made sense, you just gotta review what you want out of the car and go from there i guess.

I have a base RSX, and I reely enjoy it. I have plans to modify it but, but it is a great base car by itself. I did, however, move up from a Saturn, so most cars can be considered a step up. The base RSX with a manual is well worth the price, it kicks the *** of my friends Jetta Wolfsburg so at least I'm happy with it. It's just a matter of wether or not you want to spend the extra cash for 40 more stock hp, and a stiffer stock suspension.
