Default Mid sleeves VS Flanged Sleeves.... whats the difference

A local company can do flanged sleeves for a decent price, but cannot do mid sleeves...

Im wondering if i should send my block away for mid sleeves, or just go with the local flanged sleeves....

what are the pros and cons of both

any help would be appreciated..

i agree other companies who have less expierence with sleeves tend to have sleeves drop

benson macihnes a deck for the sleeves to sit on so they can never drop.

There's a bit more to it than just that. Anyways, MID's are difficult to install and are only recommended to be installed by shops with ton of experience.

I would just send it out to a big/reputable company. I would personnaly choose Golden Eagle.

Unless your goal is 800whp, 10k+ rpm, and a stroked crank, I doubt that the design will have much bearing on keeping the motor together. If a well-tuned, good condition b16 can make 600+ whp remaining 100% stock w/o shattering a sleeve (instead broke ringlands, still boosted IIRC), then I can't see ductile iron thats 2x as thick causing a problem.

Just treat it like its your mom's block, not like your ex-gf's daily driver, and it will be fine.
