Default Need help with seating the valve seal gasket to stay when turned over

So my g/f just bought a 92 Accord Couple on the cheap and it has a laundry list of issues. She is limited in funds so she's amazingly allowed me to try my hand some of these repairs. I surprisingly successfully replaced the distributor earlier today, hard part was figuring out TDC, but once all was aligned it was a snap...no more oil leak from that area. The valve seal gasket is shot as well so we bought a kit and removing the valve cover was a snap, then discovered two leaky spark plug seals. when i pulled out plugs 2 & 3, they were each soaking in a bath of 3oz of oil. The spark plug seals snapped in just fine, the main valve cover seal is a major pain in my ****. It will not stay seated in the groove so it's impossible to place the cover back on. Is there a trick to this? I placed the main seal in the freezer for a 20 minutes which did seem to make for a snugger fit, but it's just not snug enough to stay attached while placing the cover back on. I verified the part to be the correct piece. Any ideas?

I HAD SAME PROBLEM. U JUST HAVE 2 HOLD THE 4 CORNERS OF THE SEAL WITH FINGERS AND LAY THE COVER DOWN SOFTLY , THEN TRY TO WORK WITH THE SEAL TILL IT'S ALL IN PLACE. DON'T PINCH IT WHEN TIGHTENING BOLTS. REALLY NOT A TRICK, JUST KEEP MESSIN WITH IT.HOPE THAT HELPS. I'VE DONE IT ALOT.

Go to Autozone or Check, etc. and get a tube of Super High Tack Gasket Sealant and put it along the track where the gasket goes on the valve cover. Push the gasket into place, especially in the corners and install. Just did mine the other day and got it on the first try.

Good luck!!

Clean it super well, those gaskets don't sit well in oil. Also, use RTV black silicone on the corners and let it drive for a few, and make sure the gasket is set flush inside the grooves around the edge of the cover. Then reinstall and tighten the 4 nuts in a criss-cross pattern and DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN!
