89 civic suspension setup question. Reviews would be helpful :)
OK so searching through the suspension forum is not really helping me very much. Lots of great info but too much to try and sort through! OK to keep this short, I get my civic out of the body shop this month and want to work on the suspension setup.
I've read a few snippets of people really not liking Tein and Omni Power setups and I'm confused because I always thought they were great companies. In any event this car is just going to be used for daily driving. Engine is staying stock (maybe a ZC swap) and I'd like it to close the gap for 15" wheels (I'm guessing 1.5" will do it nicely). Also I'm trying to stay budget minded with the setup as I don't want to dump a lot of money into this car.
cliffs
what do you recommend for suspension? Basically I want a better than stock ride/handling without going too stiff.
89 civic (stock engine/zc possibly)
daily driver (work / basic commuting / no autox or drag)
1.5" drop
budget minded (under $1000=good, around $500=better, under $500=unbelieveable!)
Thanks in advance!

tokico illuminas and eibach prokits. check ebay for best prices for illuminas from a very reputable buyer. you can buy used springs. whichever you want, i recommend pro kits.
get a rear swaybar.
make sure you get an alignment after changing ride heights. and tighten all your suspension bolts while loading your suspension to save the bushings.
if you dont know what tires you have, then get some decent ones. tire selection is too broad to give recommendations.

I recently bought a car that was set up for Solo2 autocross: it's a '90 Civic hatch with Omni Power Coilovers (the stiffer setup), suspension techniques 22mm rear swaybar, no name sway bars front and rear and I love the way it handles. Never had a car that would oversteer when you want it too.
But realistically for the ride and all, I love the Omni's. I also own a set of Tein RA's that I had on my '89 hatch and they were way to stiff and jarring to drive on the street.
Go with Omni's. They've had a couple of hiccups but they're all resolved and are very nice now.
