Default My car was almost towed

My car was parked in a private lot with businesses and my school was across the street. I always parked there because the building that i had class in was right across the street. Well anyways, class was over and I proceeded across the street to my car. I heard a familiar beep which sounds like my car alarm. When i got closer I was in shocked to see my car already on a flatbed tow truck. The guy said I had to pay $43 to unhook my car on the spot. So I paid the guy and got my car down. While I inspecting the car I noticed They hooked my car by the wheel on the front passenger tire
Now I understood that I parked illegally because the lot was for customers but i'm just friggin mad about the damage about my rim. What can I do about this

Buy a new wheel if it bothers you enough.

or

Refinish your stock wheel.

did you mention that the rim was damaged?

if so, ask him for a receipt of acknoledgement for 43, and the acknoledgement that he caused the damage.

ask him nicely if he is willing to pay for the damages, or do you need to take him to court.

I'm not going that far to handle this.

so if your illegal parked, that gives the tow people the right to destroy your car, put sugar in the tank, steal the seats, the motor, and pour paint thinner all over your car? something just doesnt sound right about that.

We live in CA...you can sue anyone for anything...contact the company and inform them that the driver did not correctly secure the line on the car's tow hook, and instead used your rim...you would like them to pay for damages to the rim, and an alignment as they could have seriously screwed up your alignment. It doesn't matter that you were illegally parked, it matters that they were grossly negligent in their actions. If they knew how to tow the car, they would have used the tow hooks, and not the rim

We aren't talking about someone stealing car...

His car was parked illegally and the tow-truck operator can careless if it's an ITR or Ferrari. He will just do his daily routine of towing it by the front wheel (I guess).

He is parked illegally. The tow truck driver needs to get him out. Pouring sugar in your gas tank and breaking your window doesnt really have much to do with towing a car.

Hooking a wheel up does. Could he have been more careful? Sure. Would you win? Nope.

well correct me if I'm wrong but I didnt think it was normal for them to hook up at the wheel? so shouldnt it be the tow CO. fault?

But they are gonna say the driver DID hook it up right, i guarentee the driver wont admit to fuxoring up the rim. And without any proof otherwise..

funny story: I chased the tow truck **** down the street at about 3am with the s2k on back . Finally got him to stop and he gave me the same bullpoop but started at $120. I talked him down to $40 but I had no cash. I tried to bluff and said "you can take me to the atm machine" and he said yes. So he drove me to the atm machine in my pj`s, I pulled out $40, he gave me the s2k back. This was the freaking night before import showoff, too haha

This is America, you can sue for anything...I didn't make my statement to sound rude, but he will not win, that's all I was saying. He will deny it and he will have wasted more money...

my sentiments exactly

I didn't say that, but a scratched wheel is something they will laugh at...if he had dumped his car off of the tow truck, that would have been a different story

Thanks for sharing all of your thoughts, concerns, experience, etc.
Its not that big of a deal to me anymore right now. Damage is barely noticeable.
I figure I'll buy new wheels in the future anyways.
I'll see if I can post up pics for you guys later tonight.

How would you know Skirt? You've never been on the track

Edit: Oh yeah, he will get anything. If the car was in gear he would have use go jacks to pull it out, which could have scratched the wheel. A scratched wheel is not much damage for a tow truck to make, they totalled a friends Golf and were not liable for the damages (he lost the court case even though it was gross negligence). If you park illegal you have absolutely no case.

What I would do is I will jump write into the car and lock the doors if there aren't any police around. By law, they can't tow your car if someone is inside. The only thing they can do will be to un-hock your car or both of you will just sit there forever.
