Default a/f gauge info

I just got an a/f gauge for my crx. its a 1991. I would also like to use it in my 1996 honda civic 2dr. Could someone here please tell me what the wire is at the PCM for both or either cars so I may test it out and decide which car to use it more on. I planned to use it mainly on the crx, but since its still in project, I might use it on the other vehicle. I know its the O2 sensor wire, unsure of color and pin and whatever else. thanks

I used my helms manual. it had all the pinouts for the ecu.

hey man, I'll check it out in the morning since its cold and night time right now, I'll look for that wire and hook up my gauge to it and hopefully that it. Now is that the same for both a crx and for civic or will the civic be different as far as that is concerned?

do you have a wide band o2 sensor? because if you dont, the guage is worthless. narrow band o2 sensors dont have enough resolution to display accurate o2 levels beside rich or lean. something to think about before installation.

For some people, like me, that's all you need. I'm getting it tuned to get the A/F straight. Then, if i'm spraying and it goes to lean for more than a second, I can back off.

Lean = bad,
Rich = good.

well good and bad. I dont have a white wire at that c-16 pin, i mean theres a wire there but its not white and its in the middle of the hardness. It is a ZC engine, so I'm guessing its a different hardness, i believe the car is an HF, but still, unsure!! any help greatly appreciated!!

i think you are the first person to ever point out a valid reason to have an a/f guage hooked to a narrowband. i didnt think of that when i made my post. the tricky thing now is not to be too rich. but it is very hard to run too rich in some cases. stock injector duration would max out before you got to a point where you are too rich. either way, good post.

if by pcm you mean Engine Control Unit (ECU), then it is pin/wire c16 on a pm6 ecu. thats the wire that sends voltage from the o2 sensor to the ecu. thats for both dpfi and mpfi engines.

how can i check the wire at C16 at the ecu b/c i dont want to expletive anything up here. can i use a DMM on it to maybe see a different in a resistance of some sort? I'm not sure what ecu I have as when i bought the car they told me it has a Si computer that was computer advanced of some sort, but they didnt bolt it down and its got an "eye" in the middle of it so you can see the board inside it. its got 3 plugs, one that is kinda clearish and 2 black smaller ones. there are no markings on the clearish one if I remember correctly, but on the black ones only.

Leave plenty of slack in the wire. (Don't cut it an inch from the ECU)

Cut it , splice in the A/F. If it doesn't work, just re-connect the two.

Narrow band A/F guage? Just another really good light show. If you really want to know A/F get a wideband.

It serves a purpose. Tells you if ur running rich, stoich, or lean. That's it. It doesn't tell you how lean or how rich, just that it is one or the other.

Also, A/F guages are useless during part throttle driving. The ECU does some loop program so it just blinks back and forth. Only when you're WOT does the A/F guage show you what the engine's running at.

Ok, i had a hard time starting the car today, so hopefully tomorrow. but i have a new question and dont really want to start a whol enew thread. I wanted to know what ECU is the PM6 ecu? Is that a normal honda crx ECU or is that a different one? When i bought the car, they said it was a much better ecu, but i dunno. SO what is your take on that?

PM6 is the ECU for a D16A6 engine. They came out of 88-91 CRX and Civic Si's.
