Default Maximum Throttle Body Bore for the H22 Intake Manifold?

Hey guys. I am planing on upgrading my throttle body here soon, and I am wondering what the very maximum bore that can be achieved on the stock H22 intake manifold? BTW, the manifold is gutted/ported etc, so please no "why are you using the stock manifold" questions. Thanks.

I've done 70 on a gutted manifold. could go a little bigger though.

keep in mind that bigger is not always better.

by having such a large TB without any sort of taper will significantly affect air flow velocity.

i'd suggest getting a tapered TB to find a compromise between air volume and velocity.

I have an STR 70mm Tb matched to a 70mm intake mani port opening on my h22a4 which will be sucking in turbo air

I think I might just take a shot with the 80mm and see if I can make it work.

I think the reason that they come tapered is so that you don't have to modify the manifold so much to get them to work. I really don't think velocity has anything to do with it , but I could be wrong. Afterall the stock ones are straight through and so are the bigger mustang ones correct?

I'd like to see an 80 on one though, that'd be huge. I have a sketch of the bolt pattern at home I suppose I could draw a cirlce in there and see how big it could be.

ahh, well if you're welding it on then that shouldn't be a problem at all. I know if you use the boly on style the throttle bore gets pretty close to the bolts that hold the adapter on.
